| About the Christian and Missionary Alliance
The Christian and Missionary Alliance (C&MA) is an evangelical denomination with a major emphasis on world evangelization. It began as a missionary movement initiated by Dr. Albert B. Simpson in 1887 to mobilize the under-utilized lay forces and resources of the churches to "take the whole Bible to the whole world". The founder was reluctant to establish churches, preferring to call together Christians with a vision to evangelize the world but who remained in their local churches. The Christian and Missionary Alliance was a movement and not a denomination until the mid-1970's. It then became clear that the Alliance was a denomination in all but name, so with revised bylaws and a constitution that reality was formalized in 1974. Today, the Christian and Missionary Alliance is committed to communicating the deeper teachings of the Word of God and to increasing the pace of world evangelism. The State College and Missionary Alliance Church is a member church of the Christian and Missionary Alliance denomination. We join with nearly 2,000 churches in the United States, 1,100 missionaries in 49 nations, and churches in 66 other countries and territories in ministry. We offer Bible Studies and classes for men, women and couples. Meaningful fellowship groups for singles, as well as groups for retirees, youth and college students are found each week. There are children's choirs as well as visitation ministries for those that like to meet new friends. The congregation carries a global burden, as mission trips head overseas from time to time. Active missionaries from across the globe give valuable updates and opportunities for service. |
