Tithing
by Rev. David JanssenJohn Maxwell once said that the measure of a church is not what it brings in, but what it gives out. As a ministry, we believe this principle is true. As one glances through the multiple ministries listed on our website, we are reminded that these ministries are enabled through financial gifts. You may not be involved in each ministry personally, but you can be involved in a significant way through your financial support. As you give your tithe or gift to the Lord, the church disperses it across the spectrum of ministries. As the leadership of the church, we feel it is important to share with you how the Lord is leading us to invest the financial gifts He provides through your faithfulness. Many people choose to place their tithe or gift in "Church Operations", which allows you to be part of the financial support of the staff, the building and church ministries. Outreaches such as the Alliance Christian Fellowship at Penn State University and the Alliance Disability Outreach are enabled through this fund. Mark your tithe in the box "Church Ministries and Operations" on your tithe and offering envelope to support these particular needs. The Lord clearly led the church to reposition our facilities for the new century. We all took a faith-filled risk and supported the completion of our new facility on Whitehall Road. God has opened new ministry opportunities through this transition; we are now aware that our new location will be in proximity to some of the densest population in the region. God knew what He was doing! We desire to release the church from the financial burden of the building as soon as possible, as we realize that every dollar given now frees us from financial ties later. In 2003 we were able raise sufficient funds to recast our mortgage and reduce $900.00 per month in interest. This is now money freed for ministry! Mark your tithe in the box " Building Fund" to support this need. The State College Alliance Church is dedicated to international ministry through the Christian and Missionary Alliance. With over 1000 missionaries on the field, we contribute to the needs of world evangelization through the Great Commission Fund. This fund is collected monthly and united with the gifts of the other 1500 Alliance churches in the United States to support missionaries. Mark your tithe in the box "Great Commission Fund" to support this call. We all join together in this family endeavor to empower the ministries God has provided to bless us.
